Cyberbullying

In today’s world with augmenting number of users across the world on Social Media, and with Social Media becoming the only feasible way of communication for people in the pandemic, Social Media surely has many advantages. But it has given rise to a type of bullying called “Cyber Bullying”

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital services like cell phones, computers and tablets. Cyber Bullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps or even online on Social Media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. This is one of the cons of having Social Media. Cyberbullying has become increasingly common especially in teenagers. And as a teen myself I don’t have many accounts on Social Media platforms because I feel insecure.

Cyberbullying can incorporate sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Cyberbullying can be harsh comments to a post on Social Media too. To avoid cyberbullying we should do a few some of which embrace-

·      Never post anything on social media.

·      Never share your personal information with strangers. By sharing you can make yourself vulnerable.

·      Be alert and do not click on a mysterious link, they may be scams.

·      For parents – Make your children aware from an early age, so they are always cautious. Parents also should monitor their children’s online activities, and limit their usage.

·      Cyberbullying must be reported immediately without any delay to prevent from further incidents taking place.

Bullying a person online can lead them to become depressed. If rumours are spread on the person, it can reduce others respect for him/ her quite dramatically. It tarnishes the image of the person suffering from cyberbullying. It also makes them feel inferior.
